Challenge #43 - Magazine clippings/pages - with Guest Hostess................................ DANIELLE QUARMBY of Q-tea Kits!!!!

I'm a kind of quirky, arty 28-year-old scrapper with a love of photography, 2 little kidlets and 1 on the way, a computer nerd hubby and a tendency to value creativity above housework. I'm on the colour team for Australian scrapbooking mag Scrapbook Creations, and have also written 9 feature articles for them over the past 2 years, as well as being contributing layouts to other features in the magazine. In 2007 I was one of the runners-up for the Memory Makers Masters competition, which is probably my most thrilling achievement in scrapbooking! A close second was getting my layout on the cover of Scrapbook Creations last December. I've been running Q Tea Kits since July 2007, and May 2009 will be the last kit before closing the business. I'm excited to see what creative directions will be next - I have a lot of ideas!

For Challenge #43, I challenge you... to use magazine clippings and/or magazine pages ON YOUR PAGES... That's right! Incorporate something on your scrapbook page that comes from a magazine... Cut it out, tear it out... And, use it ON your page, and IN your design... Have FUN!! Think outside-of-the-box!!

For my example layout, the title "Where the Wild Things Are" was a title page for a fashion spread in a children's fashion magazine called Bambini. I just stuck it to the background paper and went from there, adding gesso, stickers, some items from Q Tea's May kit and a photo of my daughter at her grandparents a couple of years ago.

I had so much fun doing this, that I made another one too...

And, the Method Playground designers have also created their own pages to inspire you some more...

DEBORAH's layout...

PALOMA's layout...

JENNIFER's layout...

Jennifer used the whole magazine page out of a cruise brochure (the theme of her layout). She also used her Making Memories Slice to cut individual letters out of colorful portions of the brochure to make her title.

PAMELA's layout...

So... Remember to link your layout to this post, by midnite PST on Sunday, May 3, and you could be the VERY LUCKY RECIPIENT of this FABULOUS RAK from Q-tea Kits, "Honey Bee Happy"...

Good Luck!!... Danielle

Challenge 24 - Ephemera!

Can you believe that the summer's two-thirds of the way through? It's more astonishing to me that this summer's been busier than the school year - with camps, out door activities and recently back-to-school shopping. I've got quite a collection of ticket stubs, receipts, and other ephemera already - and we haven't even gone on our vacation yet!

My challenge to you is to grab some of those things you've been hanging on to from this summer, last summer, or whenever -- as long as it's ephemera -- and use it on a layout.

Link your layout to this thread by Sunday, August 10 to be considered for a RAK. And I've got a fun RAK full of embellishments, flowers and vintage things, including an Oceanside adornment package from Scraps of Time.

Here's what the team did:

I found I had a variety of things -- just from one week. Ticket stubs, clothing tags and a photo strip from one of the mall picture kiosks that my son dragged me into.

Becky used airline ticket stubs on her layout of her child's trip to NYC.

Jen used tags from her daughter's clothing. The brightly colored tags make a great accent.
