Challenge 17 - Break the Borders

Whether you work in 12x12 or 8 1/2 x 11, you probably sit down to work on a page and move elements around within those dimensions until you get the look you want. But who says you HAVE to make everything fit nicely within the page boundaries?

My challenge to you this week is to "Break the Borders" and have one or more elements poke off the edges of your layout. Do it to focus attention on a specific part of the layout, or just do it for fun.

You have until Sunday, May 4th to post your entries either here or on the threads at 2peas or scrapbook.com. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Here is what some of the team did:

DEB: Deb used patterned papers and number stickers off of her page. See how that little bit of torn paper draws your eye in to the parenthesis and photo?

BECKY: Becky used clips to highlight her strip of photos. One clip hangs over the edge of her layout. Cute AND functional.

JEN: I chose to hang 2 elements off of my page - the wooden embellishment on the left side and the button on the right. They are subtle overhangs, but they help focus your eye on those sections of the layout. FYI, the layout was done with this month's kit from Studio Calico.

More layouts will follow, so check back!

I am usually a 12x12 scrapper but a friend of mine designs papers in A4 and I just love her papers. So.... had to try the new format, and invariably, I had things sticking off the pages, so much so, that my scrapperfriends started calling it my "thing".... anyway, here are my challenge LOs. http://howmanyshoes.blogspot.com/2008/04/things-sticking-out.html

I love this week's challenge and I don't know if I would have tried this without it. I had so much fun making my layout. Here it is:

This was a great challenge because it made me do something completely different. I did LO on a 8.5x11 in stead of the normal 12x12. Thanks!!!
