Challenge #26 - Repeat Design Element

This is my first time hosting a challenge here at Method Playground and i'm pretty excited to see what you all do with the challenge i came up with!

Have you ever just found that piece of patterned paper that you absolutely LOVE and wanted to re-create a design from it. Well, here is your chance. My challenge to you is to take that paper and play off of it. Whether it is as simple as circles or a flower - or like the trees I re-created from the piece of Scrapworks paper I used - show me what you can come up with - I want to see the design in your paper repeated in your layout somewhere.

The designers came up with some great ideas and showcased the variety of ways you can use this challenge:

Here is my layout - i loved the trees in the this paper from scrapworks and couldn't help copying them to make my own!!

Sassy Scrap Techniques Class & Giveaway

Are you a technique junkie? Sherry Steveson's class Sassy Scrap Techniques will be starting soon at NYC Scraps and Jen & I are thrilled to be part of it. The class covers 10 different techniques. And Sherry has a giveaway on her blog right now. Leave a comment to her post by August 20th for chance to win both her class and a copy of her soon-to-be-released book When Life Gives You Lemons.

And we've got a little preview for you. Jen's layout (below) using an image transfer technique. She layered them as part of her flower embellishments. For my layout (at the bottom), I created a stencil to use with Glimmer Mist. Wanna know how we did this? Join us in the class!

Challenge 25 - BOWS! with Stephanie Howell

Joining us for this next challenge is the fabulous and talented Stephanie Howell. Here is her challenge for us...

Okay, I admit it. I’m a girly-girl. I add bows and ribbon to everything. My girls wear bows in their hair every day. I tie pretty bows on packages. I have multiple items of clothing that feature bows. I might be addicted!

I love to add bows to my layouts.I think it makes the entire page seem like a soft, delicate gift. I challenge you to tie a pretty bow onto your layout. You can tie a tiny bow, several bows, or an oversized bow (those are the type I favor!).

I can’t wait to see what you all create, I’m thrilled to be visiting Method Playground!

You have 2 weeks to complete this challenge (Midnight on Sunday, August 24th) to be considered for a RAK from Stephanie. Now go rummage through your stash for some yummy ribbon and show us what you've got!

Ephemera Slide Show & Winner!

Thanks to everyone who played along! It was fun to see what everyone came up with for this challenge - brochures, ticket stubs, pieces of boxes. I had to pick Kimmy as the winner with her "Hot Men Gave Me Their Pants" layout - and I'm still chuckling over that layout.

So, here's the slideshow and Kimmy, email us your addy!

Black, White & Color Winner

Hello all! Sorry it has taken me SO long to post the winner for the last challenge. Truth is I am on vacation and I totally forgot that I had not made known the winner. Oops! Anyway, congrats to...

DENISE!!!

Denise, I loved the simple design incorporating the photos. I really thought the black and white photos combined with the blue water color photo on that pink paper really popped. Lovely. I will get a RAK out to you soon. :)
Tomorrow is another challenge, and we have a guest for you (any guesses???), so make sure to check back.

Challenge 24 - Ephemera!

Can you believe that the summer's two-thirds of the way through? It's more astonishing to me that this summer's been busier than the school year - with camps, out door activities and recently back-to-school shopping. I've got quite a collection of ticket stubs, receipts, and other ephemera already - and we haven't even gone on our vacation yet!

My challenge to you is to grab some of those things you've been hanging on to from this summer, last summer, or whenever -- as long as it's ephemera -- and use it on a layout.

Link your layout to this thread by Sunday, August 10 to be considered for a RAK. And I've got a fun RAK full of embellishments, flowers and vintage things, including an Oceanside adornment package from Scraps of Time.

Here's what the team did:

I found I had a variety of things -- just from one week. Ticket stubs, clothing tags and a photo strip from one of the mall picture kiosks that my son dragged me into.

Becky used airline ticket stubs on her layout of her child's trip to NYC.

Jen used tags from her daughter's clothing. The brightly colored tags make a great accent.
